Disney WWII Mickey Mouse Gas Mask By Sun Rubber Company
Extremely rare WWII Mickey Mouse Gas Mask by the Sun Rubber Company. Regular gas masks were scary to children so the owner of the Sun Rubber Company pitched an idea to Walt Disney to create a more child friendly version. Walt loved the idea, and in 1942, the masks were created. Shortly thereafter, rubber rationing took place, and the masks were cancelled and mostly scrapped. Only 5 examples are still known to exist. The rest are in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps Museum, 45th Infantry Division Museum, Akron Historical Center and the Disney Archives has the rubber mask piece only. This is the finest example known to exist, with the others having various condition issues. This is also the only one to still have the bag that came with it.
Measures 13” tall when ears are fully extended.
Condition- excellent
