Whiskey Rationing Poster Hoard War Bonds Not Whiskey
Extremely rare WWII whiskey rationing sign by Baltimore Pure Rye Distilling Corp. during WWII Alcohol was needed to make ammunition and synthetic rubber. Natural rubber had been halted when Japanese domination of the Pacific began. No distilleries were allowed to make beverage alcohol and had to produce for the war effort, so prohibition was back in a way. This sign encouraged the rationing of whiskey since they could only sell what they made before the war started for the United States. It also encouraged the purchase of war bonds. We have never seen this sign before of almost 15 years of exclusivity dealing in war posters.
