An extremely rare, and to our knowledge the only one known to exist, poster asking those on the homefront to donate their dogs. Beleive it or not, there was a patriotic initiative, called “Dogs For Defense” where Americans donated their pets and/or money to the military for the K-9 Corps. This led to thousands of dogs, mainly German Shepherds, Dobermans a similar breeds to be enlisted, with many being returned to their owners after the war. The most famous and decorated dog from WWII was obtained via this program, his name was “Chips”.
