Without a doubt one of our best finds ever. 1931 Navy recruitment poster for Sky Ships. This poster features the USS Los Angeles ZR-3, the most successful Air Ship ever built lasting for 7 years and 330 different flights. the Los Angeles was built by the Zeppelin company in Germany as a war reparation from WWI. The Navy’s Sky Ship program only lasted from 1916-1962 due to their limited use, speed, and crash rating when speed was trying to be improved. This poster only had 1 small run in 1931 and was never used again. This is not the 1973 reprint that everyone has, this is the real deal from 1931. We cannot locate a single other example of this incredibly rare poster. No auction house has ever had one, no dealer, nor is it in any museum archive. Not even the Smithsonian has one, they only have a picture.

Measures 40.25x27.75”

Condition- very good on linen, repaired tear bottom center, small restoration above the S in “Sky” and the second S in “ships”.
