Ships christening Poster War Bonds And Stamps
This is a scarce WWII poster which would be posted on a ship for its christening. Many times the Champaign bottle was smashed right up against the poster so very few survived. The idea was for a town to come together to sell and certain amount war bonds and stamps so they could be the official launching sponsor for a ships christening. The front would be displayed for all to see on the ship, the back has instructions to on how the program works. After the commissioning, a plaque would be made and placed prominently on the ship just like the image on the front of the poster. This is the only example I’ve seen in my 11 years of exclusively collecting WWII posters.
Measures 27.75x34”.
Condition- small rips and a small stain towards the bottom, no paper loss.
