SOLD An extremely rare British holy grial from WWII. “Don’t help the enemy” was printed by the Ministry of Information as part of a series of 4 posters, including “Keep Calm and Carry On”, “Freedom Is in Peril- Defend It With All Your Might” and “Your Courage Your Cheerfulness Your Resolution”. An estimated 1 million copies of each poster in the series were printed in different sizes in 1939, to be posted throughout the country. Some were posted up, but the campaign was quickly cancelled due to public outcry towards the slogans as they sounded condescending to the common man against the political elites. The unposted copies were shredded and only a few survived that were actually brought out into the public. beyond scarce. We can only locate 5 other examples of this rare poster. In the Smithsonian, the Imperial War Museum, the Hoover Institute, and 2 in private collections.

Condition- excellent on linen. Restored skimming from tape where it was hung during the war along top and bottom as well as restored missing top left corner.
